Global Involvement - Christian Missions

We extend ourselves not only to meet the needs of our church family and local community, but global needs as well.

In response to God's call to serve others, we extend ourselves not only to meet the needs of our church family and local community, but global needs as well. The needs are vast and complex but we have made a commitment to invest our resources of money (10 percent of all contributions received are prayerfully and strategically invested in needs beyond our community) and energy (communication, prayers and visits of encouragement and partnership with the workers on location). We commit ourselves to the health and effectiveness of the following people and organizations:

Streets of Hope in Nakuru, Kenya.

The Creek's Partnership with Streets of Hope:

· Streets of Hope (SOH) was founded in 2002 by Stu Lundberg. see www.streetsofhope.org

· The Creek contacted Stu, who lives in the East Bay, about this work of caring for orphaned street boys in Nakuru, Kenya.

· A team from The Creek visited Kenya with Stu in 2004 to see firsthand the work of Streets of Hope and to explore our possible financial support. John and Ruth Mwangi, SOH directors, hosted us. Unanimous agreement to financially support SOH was confirmed.

· The Creek supports SOH by financing the satellite campus of Naka that serves 20 boys who are in transition from the streets to the main campus, Section 58. Naka houses, feeds, educates and loves on these boys. The transformation in the lives of these boys is nothing short of a miracle. Their great appreciation and hope is centered on Jesus Christ.

· The Creek also supports the Ime Medical Clinic that serves hundreds of patients monthly in a rural area outside of Nakuru. Without our support there would be no staff or medical supplies to serve this very poor region.

· Individuals at The Creek also support individual boys through personal sponsorship of $30 per month. There are more opportunities for sponsorship as well.

· The burden of clean water for people at Ime prompted The Creek to raise $20,000 to finance the drilling of a well which will serve 20,000 people.

· A team from The Creek recently returned from Kenya (April 2009) where they witnessed the successful drilling and operation of the well. The response of the people there was overwhelming. Please share our joy by viewing the video which will be available at www.creeklife.org/buzz/

· SOH also has a high school campus and dorms that serves 100 students, a second satellite campus called Millimonti, and the main campus that serves 58 boys at Section 58.

· The African Inland Church of Section 58 is the partnering church of SOH and offers tremendous relational support and resources for the staff and boys of SOH.

Rancho de Sus Ninos in Tecate, Mexico.

Even before The Creek was established many of us supported and served this orphanage and church planting work in Tecate. Annual trips are made to continue our partnership with this amazing work. It's only one (long) day drive from here to have your life changed by working with this ministry. For more information go to http://www.ranchodesusninos.org/.

Amy Williams with Greater Europe Missions in Italy.

The Creek is the sending church for our own Creek friend Amy. Amy served with us until her heart led her to Italy where she works with the youth in Montefiascone and Monterosi. As a country, Italy is very resistant to the gospel yet there is a spiritual seeking especially among the youth. For more information go to http://www.amyinitaly.com/ or http://www.gemission.org/.

Don and Cyd Storrs with Greater Europe Mission training.

Our good friends, Don and Cyd worked in Germany for 10 years before returning now to the States to serve as trainers for GEM. For more information go to http://www.notinkansasanymore.typepad.com/ or http://www.gemission.org/.

Covenant Missions.

The Covenant Church currently has work in 27 countries around the world. As a member church of the Covenant finanically we support this work. For more information go to http://www.covchurch.org/

Special Project, Blood:Water Mission.

During the Fall of 2006 many of us "fasted" from all other fluids for drinking but water to raise our awareness and sensitivity for the tremendous need of clean water in Africa. We also raised $3,812 to build a well through Blood:Water Mission. For more information go to http://www.bloodwatermission.com/
